MESA, Ariz. - The fourth-ranked College of Southern Idaho Women's Basketball used a strong defensive effort to get past eighth-ranked Mesa CC 59-58 in overtime Saturday on the road.
The Golden Eagles didn't make a field goal in the overtime period but made three free throws and held Mesa to one field goal.
For the game, CSI forced 27 turnovers and scored 23 of its points off those turnovers.
Samara Morrow led the Golden Eagles with 14 points along with three steals and three assists.
Savannah Stoker added eight points,10 rebounds, two assists and two steals and
Mariah Mons scored 13 points.
Alina Sapilak was solid with eight points and four rebounds and
Falon Bedke was tough inside with seven rebounds.
The Golden Eagles shot just 28 percent from the field but made 76 percent from the free-throw line which proved to be the difference as Mesa shot 40 percent from the line.
CSI next takes on 17th-ranked Arizona Western Sunday at 6 p.m. in Yuma.
