HENDERSON, Nev. - The College of Southern Idaho beat Arizona Western 16-15 and then dropped a 5-1 decision to Eastern Arizona Friday at the Southern Nevada Tournament.
There was no shortage of offense in the opener. The Golden Eagles finished with 20 hits and six home runs.
Tessa Hokanson was 3-for-6 with two home runs and
Courtney Christiansen was 5-for-5 with two doubles, four RBI and a home run.
Taya Manzanares was 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI,
Reagan Rex was 2-for-4 and
Abbie Banning was 2-for-4 with a home run. The final home run was hit by
Haylee Farnsworth.
Abby Hayes earned the win in the circle and
Eva Stoddard got the save.
CSI struggled to get runs in the second game, finishing with seven hits. Christiansen stayed hot, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and Hokanson was 2-for-3.
Markessa Jensen earned the loss, going six innings and giving up five runs on seven hits with five strikeouts. Hayes pitched the final inning, giving up no runs on one hit.
The Golden Eagles play two more Saturday before heading home.
