LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The 15th-ranked College of Southern Idaho beat #16 Arizona Western 23-25, 25-22, 25-9, 25-23 and followed that up with a 25-18, 25-18, 25-16 win over #14 Eastern Arizona Friday in the College of Southern Nevada Invitational.
The Golden Eagles spread the wealth in both matches, making it hard to stop them.
Running the offense was
Janke Pretorius who had 35 assists, 13 digs and three blocks in match one and then added 30 assists, five kills, 14 digs and two service aces in match two.
Annie Nikolnikova and
Danea King finished with eight kills against Arizona Western. Nikolnikova added four blocks and king had seven. Alazaysha Sopi led CSI with 12 kills along with 17 digs and
Val Sarti-Cipriani finished with 10 kills and five blocks.
Chinaru Inoue posted a team-high 31 digs.
In the second match, Nikolnikova, King and Sopi all had 10 kills and Sarti-Cipriani finished with 11. Sarti-Cipriani also had seven digs and three blocks.
CSI, now 12-5 overall, takes on Jefferson College at 10 a.m. MT and Mesa CC at 2 p.m. MT to finish out the tournament before coming home to begin league play next week.
