CSI Softball grinds out two wins at Snow Saturday

EPHRAIM, Utah - It will not go down as the two prettiest wins of the season, but the College of Southern Idaho Softball Team took its winning streak to eight games with the 8-7 and 13-9 wins over Snow College Saturday in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
In game one, the Golden Eagles left nine runners on base but scored just enough for the win.
Reagan Rex was 2-for-2 with two RBI, Markessa Jensen was 2-for-4 with two RBI, Gracie Tentinger was 2-for-3 and Brylee Bigelow was 1-for-2 with two walks.
In the circle, Gracie Walters earned her second win of the weekend, going six innings and giving up seven earned runs with three strikeouts. Brooke Merrill got the save, pitching the final one innings, giving up no runs on one hit.
The Golden Eagles jumped out to a 9-0 lead in game two, scoring four in the first inning off the Badgers starter and five in the second inning off their first reliever.
But the CSI bats went cold for a bit and the defense did too.
CSI starting pitcher Abby Hayes battled all game. The freshman gave up only three earned runs of the nine Snow scored due to six Golden Eagle errors.
Merrill came into to induce the final out of the game with runners on to get her second save of the day.
At the plate, Rachael Brown was 2-for-3 with a grand slam and five RBI. Taya Manzanares was 2-for-4 with an RBI, Jensen was 2-for-4 with two RBI, Bigelow was 2-for-4 and Indee Jones was 1-for-1 with a double and one RBI.
CSI, 29-12 overall and 17-7 in conference play, hosts Southern Nevada Friday and Saturday.
