SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The College of Southern Idaho Softball Team beat 12th-ranked Salt Lake CC 12-7 Friday to open up the four-game series and led the Bruins 6-5 in the middle of the second inning of game two before the game was suspended due to inclement weather.
The Golden Eagles used the long ball to win the opener, hitting six home runs. Both
Gracie Tentinger and
Rachael Brown were 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI.
Markessa Jensen was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI and
Kenzee Hale was 1-for-2 with a home run and two RBI.
Gracie Walters earned the win, going all seven innings and giving up six earned runs on 10 hits with nine strikeouts.
After the top half of the first inning of game two, it began to downpour. Each team batted a half inning in the weather before the game was suspended for the day. The game will resume at noon Saturday. Only one more game will be played followed the completion of Friday's game. The Golden Eagles lead 6-5 after Tentinger hit a grand slam to put CSI up one.
