TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The College of Southern Idaho Baseball Team did not give up an earned run Tuesday in beating USU Eastern 1-0 and 4-3 to earn the series sweep in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
Game one was a pitching duel from start to finish.
Golden Eagle hurler
Kaden Cloward went five innings and gave up no runs on two hits with two strikeouts.
Josh Trentadue came in for the save, going two innings and giving up no runs on no hits with five strikeouts.
The lone run scored in the game came in the fourth inning.
Cole Rollins singled to start the inning before
Colby Carter reached on a fielder's choice. McKay Pali then singled and both advanced on a wild pitch. Carter then scored on a fielder's choice by
Kaden Schuck.
The only other hits in the game for the Golden Eagles were by
Brody Duvall and Schuck.Â
CSI finished game two with just four hits as well but took advantage of six walks and solid pitching to get the win.
Tied going into the bottom of the seventh, the Golden Eagles loaded the bases when
Tyler Vance walked,
Eliot Jones reached on an error and Duvall walked. With the bases loaded and no outs,
Greyson Shafer walked to score the winning run.
On the mound,
Stone Cushing earned the win, pitching the final inning and giving up no runs on no hits.
Jordan Rowley,
Ashton Johnson, Seth McGrath and
Candon Dahle combined for the other six innings, giving up no earned runs on eight hits with six strikeouts.
CSI's four hits came from Duvall, Shafer, Rollins and
Colby Carter.
The Golden Eagles, now 24-12 overall and 8-12 in conference play, host league-leading Southern Nevada Saturday at noon and Sunday at 11 a.m.
