MOAB, Utah - Behind a dominating pitching performance from
Gracie Walters, the 17th-ranked College of Southern Idaho beat USU Eastern 7-3 in game one but struggled in all areas of game two, falling 11-3.
Walters finished game one, giving up one earned run on four hits with 14 strikeouts.Â
At the plate,
Tessa Hokanson was 3-for-4 with a double and RBI,
Saige Nielsen was 2-for-4 with a home run and RBI and
Gracie Tentinger was 3-for-4 with a double, home run and two RBI. Both
Rachael Brown and
Brylee Bigelow went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
The Golden Eagles trailed just 4-3 going into the fifth inning of game two. But a combination of pitching, defense and stagnant hitting doomed CSI.
Tentinger was 2-for-2 with two RBI and Bigelow was 2-for-3. The only other RBI was a single by
Markessa Jensen. Jensen earned the loss in the circle, pitching the first two innings and giving up four runs on four hits.
CSI, 17-10 overall, play USUE again Saturday for another doubleheader.
