TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The 11th-ranked College of Southern Idaho beat Salt Lake 7-6 in the bottom of seventh and then lost 13-10 in game two Saturday to finish up the four-game Scenic West Athletic Conference series.
The Golden Eagles trailed 6-3 going into the bottom of the seventh of game one.
Tessa Hokanson led off with a solo home run, followed by a solo home run by Sagie Nielsen. Salt Lake made a pitching change and
Gracie Tentinger produced a single before
Rachael Brown drilled a home run over the fence to give CSI the win.
Tentinger was 2-for-4, Brown was 2-for-3 with two RBI and Hokanson was 2-for-3 with two RBI.
Abby Hayes earned the win in the circle, going 2.2 innings and giving up no runs on two hits.
CSI jumped out to a 10-1 lead in game two but saw it disappear and entered the seventh tied at 10. Salt Lake hit a three-run home run to take the lead and the Golden Eagles didn't answer.
Hokanson was 2-for-3 with two RBI;
Brylee Bigelow was 3-for-4 and
Makenzie Evans was 2-for-4 with two doubles and four RBI. Kenzie Hale was 1-for-3 with a home run and three RBI.
Hayes earned the loss in the circle, pitching the final two innings, giving up three runs on six hits.
CSI, 15-9 overall and 4-4 in conference play, travel to USU Eastern next Friday and Saturday.
