Golden Eagle Softball finishes series with two wins

HENDERSON, Nev. - The 12th-ranked College of Southern Idaho Softball Team got two big wins Saturday, beating College of Southern Nevada, beating the Coyotes 15-4 and 8-6 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
Gracie Tentinger had a big day at the plate for the Golden Eagles, going 3-for-4 in game one with a double and two home runs along with seven RBI. In game two, the sophomore was 3-for-3 with a double and home run. 
Saige Nielsen also had a huge first game, going 4-for-4 with a double, a home run and two RBI. Brylee Bigelow was 2-for-3 with a home run and freshman pitcher Markessa Jensen shined at the plate and in the circle.
Jensen was 2-for-4 at the plate with a home run and three RBI and earned the win pitching, going three innings and giving up two earned runs on three hits with two strikeouts.
Game two was a much closer game that CSI had to come from behind to win. Trailing 6-3, Jensen and Bigelow singled to start the sixth inning. After two quick outs, Taya Manzanares doubled to plate Jensen and Bigelow followed by a two-run home run by Tessa Hokanson to put CSI up 7-6. The Golden Eagles added an insurance run in the top of the seventh on a Tentinger home run.
Kenzie Evans earned the win, pitching the fifth inning and giving up no hits and not runs. Walters pitched the final two innings for the save, striking out five of the six batters she faced and giving up no hits or runs. 
Also hitting a home run in game two was Rachael Brown, who was 2-for-4 with two RBI.
CSI, 15-6 overall and 3-1 in conference play, hosts Salt Lake CC next week.
