TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The fifth-ranked College of Southern Idaho Women's Basketball Team gave themselves a two-and-a-half game lead in the Scenic West Athletic Conference Standings with an 86-79 double overtime win over USU Eastern Thursday.
The Golden Eagles played from behind most of the game but hit some big shots when they needed them to pull out the win.Â
CSI led by two points in the fourth quarter after
Courtney Stothard hit a free throw with six seconds left but USU Eastern tied it up at the buzzer.
To force double overtime, CSI's
Kennedy Eskelson hit a free throw to tie the game at 73 with eight seconds to go. USU Eastern had a couple shots in the end but post
Alyssa Christensen forced the miss and got the rebound to put the game into the final extra session.
Double overtime was all CSI as the Golden Eagles shot 80 percent from the field and 83 percent from the free-throw line.
Alyssa Christensen led CSI with 17 points, 11 rebounds, two assists and four blocks.
Kennedy Eskelson hit some huge 3-pointers, finishing with 19 points along with five rebounds.
Kali Haizlip scored 16 points and
Livia Knapp had 14 points, seven assists and three steals.
CSI, 24-2 overall and 13-1 in league play, travels to Snow College next Wednesday before hosting College of Southern Nevada Saturday.
