HENDERSON, Nev. - The 10th-ranked College of Southern Idaho took advantage of its second day on the dirt this year, beating Pima 9-6 and run ruling Glendale 15-1 Saturday.
The Golden Eagles hit four home runs and three doubles against Pima to provide enough offense for the win. In the circle,
Brooke Merrill posted 12 strikeouts to hold off a patient Pima squad.
Gracie Tentinger led the Golden Eagles, going 3-for-3 with a double, a home run and two RBI.
Tessa Hokanson was 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI.
Saige Nielsen and
Kenzee Hale both hit home runs as well.
Taya Manzanares was 1-for-2 with a double and two RBI and
Reagan Rex was 1-for 2.
Game two was all CSI.
In the circle,
Gracie Walters earned the win, going three innings and giving up no runs on four hits with six strikeouts.
Abby Hayes threw the final two innings, giving up two hits, one run with three strikeouts.
At the plate, the Golden Eagles pounded out 14 hits.Â
Tessa Hokanson had two home runs,
Makenzie Evans had a home run and
Indee Jones hit a home run. Brown was 2-for-2 with two RBI,
Maame Johnson was 1-for-2, Hale was 1-for-2 and and Nielsen was 2-for-3 with two doubles. One of Hokanson's home runs was a grand slam and helped her earn 5 RBI. Manzanares was 2-for-4 with a stolen base.
CSI, 3-1 overall, travels to Yuma, Arizona for six games next week.
