CSI Indoor Distance Track opens season at BYU

PROVO, Utah - Three individuals and a relay qualified for nationals in the opening indoor track and field meet for the College of Southern Idaho runners.
The Golden Eagles competed in the BYU Cougar Collegiate Indoor Invitational on Saturday against runners from Weber State, Utah state, Idaho State Utah Valley, Salt Lake CC and BYU.
The distance relay team of Audrey Camp, Jaresa Jackson, Elizabeth Phillips and Lydia Felix won the event and qualified for the NJCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships.
The CSI men's distance relay placed second but didn't run a fast enough time for a qualification mark.
Individually, Shane Gard finished seventh overall in the mile in 4:18.18. He also qualified for nationals with his finish.
For the women, Phillips qualified in the mile in 5:20, placing 19th at the meet. The other national qualifier was Lydia Felix in the 3000 meters. She finished in 10:54, placing 27th overall.
Although Jackson didn't qualify in the 800 meters, her time was very close and she placed 11th at the meet in 2:25.41.
