SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The College of Southern Idaho Volleyball Team had a dominating performance in its 25-19, 25-21, 25-22 win over Northeastern JC Friday before failing to get into a rhythm later, falling to Casper College 25-21, 25-16, 25-21 in the Salt Lake CC Invitational.
Savannah Taosoga led the Golden Eagles against Northeastern, finishing with 14 kills and two blocks.
Mackenna Thayne also reached double digit kills with 10 and added two blocks.
At the net
Didar Ozcan posted the most blocks with three.
Sophia Casarez finished with 13 asasists and
Kaulana Kalulu-Sugai had 11.
One of the keys to the match was the passing and defense of
Miyu Tsurumaki and
Kerra Trimble. Each had 14 digs apiece to lead the Golden Eagles.
Against Casper, the Thunderbirds jumped out to a first-set lead and CSI wasn't able to respond.
Taosoga and
Heavenly Campbell led the Golden Eagles with seven kills each. Taosoga also had five digs, while Campbell had two service aces. At the net,
Kait White finished with the most blocks with three.
Casarez posted 15 assists and
Kennedy Peery added 10. Defensively, Tsurumaki had 13 digs.
CSI, now 4-3 overall, takes on Arizona Western at 9 a.m. and Western Nebraska at 11 a.m. Saturday.
