HENDERSON, Nev. - The College of Southern Idaho Softball Team almost completed a comeback in game one and did in game two, splitting with the College of Southern Nevada, falling 6-5 and winning 5-2 Friday in a Scenic West Athletic Conference doubleheader.
In the team's prior six matchups, CSI won four on walk-offs. While the Golden Eagles were the visitors, they still found a little magic again in the seventh inning Friday. Trailing 6-2, CSI pulled within 6-5 on a two-run home run by
Carley Croshaw. But that would be as close as they would get.Â
Maizie Clark finished the game 2-for-4 with a double and
Maya Williams was 1-for-2 with a home run and two RBI. In the circle,
Jessica Touchard pitched the final three innings, giving up no earned runs on one hit.
CSI trailed again in game two. With Southern Nevada leading 2-1 going into the top of the sixth, Croshaw again came through again with a big home run to cap off a four-run inning and give CSI a lead it would keep.
Kenzie Waters threw the first 4.2 innings, giving up just one earned run.
Siera Horton came in to shut the door. The sophomore pitched the final 2.1 innings, giving up no runs on no hits with two strikeouts.
At the plate,
Cortney Rhees finished 1-for-2 with a home run, Williams was 2-for-2 and
Gracie Walters was 1-for-1.
CSI will be back in action Saturday for another doubleheader with Southern Nevada.
