HENDERSON, Nev. - The College of Southern Idaho Softball needed to save some of its runs from game one for game two Saturday, run ruling Southern Nevada 17-3 before falling 6-5.
The Golden Eagles out-hit CSN 17-7 in game one and 8-4 in game two despite falling in the second game.
Carley Croshaw pounded a grand slam and solo home run in game one for five RBI.
Maya Williams and
Brynne Tolley were 3-for-4 as well and Tolley had three RBI.
Payton Hammond also hit a home run and had three RBI. In the circle Hammond earned the win as well. going 3.1 innings and giving up three earned runs.
Siera Horton pitched the final 1.2 innings, giving up no hits and no runs.
Southern Nevada jumped out to a 4-2 lead in game two but the Golden Eagles were able to tie it in the third inning on a three-run home run by
Cortney Rhees. CSN pushed one run acroos in the bottom of the sixth and CSI couldn't answer.
Sophia Stoddard was 2-for-3 with a double and Williams was 2-for-3. Hammond was 2-for-3 with a double as well.
Gracie Walters came in for relief and pitched almost perfect over the 3.1 innings, giving up just one earned run on one hit.
CSI, 25-15 and 16-8 in conference play, returns home to host second-ranked Salt Lake Friday and Saturday.
