CSI Baseball sweeps #16 Southern Nevada

TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The College of Southern Idaho Baseball benefited from timely hitting and solid pitching to beat Southern Nevada Friday 5-3 and 9-2 in a Scenic West Athletic Conference doubleheader.
The Golden Eagles trailed 3-1 going into the bottom of the fifth inning before the CSI hitters started to get on CSN starter Johnny Cueva. 
Morgan Albrecht led off the inning with a double and advanced to third on an error by the pitcher. Magnum Hofstetter followed with an RBI single. Zach Schmidt reached on an error and then Crew Robinson hit an RBI single . Both Schmidt and Robinson advanced a base on an error before Zack Petersen gave CSI it's final tally with a two RBI single.
Hofstetter ended the game 2-for-3. Petersen was 2-for-4 and Albrecht was 1-2 with a walk. On the mound, Andrew Baughn earned the win, pitching the final 3.1 innings and giving up no runs on two hits with six strikeouts. Jake Dahle started the game, going 3.2 innings and giving up no earned runs on four hits with three strikeouts.
Southern Nevada also led early in game two, taking the 2-1 lead into the bottom of the fifth. But CSI broke the game open with eight runs in the fifth inning highlighted by a three-run home run from Jordan Scott and a home run by Albrecht. 
Robinson finished the game 3-for-3 at the plate.
Andrew Zmuda earned the win, pitching 4.2 innings and giving up just one earned run on two hits with three strikeouts. Caden Christensen threw the final 1.1 innings, giving up no runs and no hits.
CSI, 25-14 overall and 12-7 in conference play, will take on Southern Nevada for the final game of the series Saturday at 11 a.m.
