RANGELY, Colo. - The College of Southern Idaho Baseball Team beat Colorado Northwestern 6-3 Thursday in the opening game of the weekend series.
CSI jumped on the Spartans in the top of the first inning with three runs and never trailed.
Zach Schmidt singled and
Crew Robinson homered and then later in the inning Chad Hennings hit another home run.Â
CNCCÂ scored two runs in the bottom of the first but that would be as close as the Spartans would get.
Robinson finished the game 2-for-3 with two RBI. Hennings also had two RBI.
Andrew Gregersen was 2-for-4 with one RBI.
On the mound,
Mason Olson earned the win, going eight innings. He gave up three earned runs on five hits with 13 strikeouts.
Andrew Baughn came in to strikeout the side in the bottom of the ninth to finish off the game.
CSI will take on CNCC Friday at noon in a doubleheader.
