CSI Baseball earns the split with Salt Lake

TWIN FALLS, Idaho - After falling 9-1 in in the first game of the doubleheader Friday, the College of Southern Idaho bounced back to beat Salt Lake CC 5-4 in the second game.
In game one, the Golden Eagles never could get to Salt Lake's Jake Wilson who pitched a complete game.
Zack Petersen was the only CSI player with more than one hit, going 2-for-3. Jordan Scott was 1-for-2 with the only RBI of the game.
Jake Dahle earned the loss, going three innings, giving up two earned runs on four hits with four strikeouts.
Game two was a battle.
The Golden Eagles took the 1-0 lead in the second but Salt Lake tied it before CSI put together a big fourth inning.
Tyler Curtis led off the inning with a double before Scott walked. Briggs Newman was hit by pitch to load the bases for Charlie Tentinger. The sophomore catcher laced a double to left center two score two. After Zach Schmidt walked, both advanced on a wild pitch. Newman scored on a wild pitch and Tentinger scored on a ground out to give CSI the 5-1 lead.
Salt Lake scored three runs in the top of the six but that would be it, giving CSI the win.
Tentinger finished 2-for-3 at the plate. Curtis was also 2-for-3 with two doubles.
Mason Olson earned the win, going 5.1 innings and giving up two earned runs on four hits with nine strikeouts.
CSI, now 11-12 overall and 2-5 in conference play, hosts Salt Lake for a final nine-inning game Saturday at 11 a.m.
