HENDERSON, Nev. - The 17th-ranked College of Southern Idaho Softball Team fell to sixth-ranked Salt Lake 9-5 before run ruling Colorado Northwestern Saturday in a non-conference pre-season tournament at Southern Nevada.
The Golden Eagles faced the same pitcher they faced against the Bruins on Friday and had much improved at-bats. Friday they didn't score. Saturday they scored the four runs on five hits.
Sidney Eyre was 2-for-4 to lead CSI.
Sophia Stoddard and
Payton Hammond each finished 1-for-3 and
Caitlin Turner was 1-for-4.
In the circle, Hammond earned the loss, going 4.1 innings and giving up seven earned run on eight hits with two strikeouts. Horton threw 1.2 innings, giving up one earned run on two hits with one strikeout.
Against Colorado Northwestern, the Golden Eagle bats were hot as they finished with 16 hits in the five innings.
Turner was 3-for-3 with three RBI. Stoddard was 3-for-3 with a triple and two RBI and
Maizie Clark was 2-for-3.
Cortney Rhees finished 1-2 with a walk, a double and three RBI.

Kenzie Waters earned the win, going three innings and giving up no runs on two hits.
Jessica Touchard pitched the final two innings, giving up one unearned run on three hits with two strikeouts.
CSI, 8-6, takes on Colorado Northwestern at 9 a.m. MST followed by CSN at 11 a.m. MST Sunday.
