HENDERSON, Nev. - The College of Southern Idaho Baseball Team traveled half its squad to a tournament at College of Southern Nevada Saturday and Sunday, beating Salt Lake CC 4-3 and 15-6 and losing to Southern Nevada 12-6 and 9-8.
In game one against SLCC, CSI trailed 3-1 going into the bottom of the sixth.
Noah Hennings took first on a hit by pitch and
Tyler Curtis and
Jordan Scott walked.
Morgan Albrecht scored Hennings on a sacrifice bunt before
Crew Robinson hit a two-RBI double to give CSI the 4-3 lead and eventually the win.
Hennings ended the game 1-for-1 and
Andrew Gregersen and Albrecht were each 1-for-2.
Taye Newman earned the win on the mound, going 3.1 innings and giving up one earned run on three hits with 5 strikeouts.
In Saturday's game against CSN, took the 7-6 lead in the bottom of the fourth and never looked back.The only CSI player with more than one hit was Albrecht, who was 2-for-3.
Ethan Horner earned the loss, going 3.0 innings and giving up five earned runs on four hits with five strikeouts.
The Golden Eagles dominated SLCC on Sunday. Robinson finished the game 2-for-3 with a home run and 4 RBI.
Magnum Hofstetter and
Tyler Curtis were each 2-for-4 with a double and 2 RBI. On the mound,
Mason Olson earned the win, going 3.1 innings and giving up six earned runs on five hits with two strikeouts.
Caden Christensen came in to relieve Olson, throwing 3.2 innings and giving up no runs on four hits with four strikeouts.
The final game of the weekend went 10 innings before Southern Nevada scored the winning run.
The Golden Eagles had six errors in the game, including one in the bottom of the 10th that led to the walk-off hit.
Zach Schmidt was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI, while Curtis was 2-for-4 with three RBI.Â
Curtis earned the loss despite giving up no earned runs in 5.0 innings of work with five strikeouts and only four hits.Â
CSI, now 4-4 overall, is planning to play Trinidad State this coming weekend.
