SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The College of Southern Idaho Softball Team continued its solid play in the circle and at the plate, beating seventh-ranked Salt Lake 8-2 and 5-3 Saturday in Scenic West Athletic Conference play. The win puts the Golden Eagles in a tie for first place in the SWAC standings with Snow College, which they hosts Friday and Saturday.
Game one was all CSI as the Golden Eagles out-hit the Bruins 10-5 and earned seven walks in the contest. Sophomore pitcher
Mailee Jensen kept the Salt Lake batters off balance all game, giving up just one earned run on five hits with three strikeouts and only one walk.Â
At the plate,
Carley Croshaw was 1-for-2 with a home run, two walks and two RBI.
Mya Washington was 3-for-4 with two RBI and
Kaeley Loader was 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Nikki Zielinski hit a solo home run and
Payton Hammond had a double.Â
CSI put together a complete performance in game two, out-hitting Salt Lake 9-4 and posting no errors on defense.
Again, the Golden Eagles dominated in the circle. Hammond gave up three earned runs on four hits with two strikeouts and no walks.
At the plate
Kylie Baumert and
Kalena Shepherd had the only multi-hit performances, each getting two hits and one RBI. Zielinski added another home run and
Emma Wilson,
Maya Williams and Washington each went 1-for-3.
Miranda Page and Washington each had a double.
CSI, now 12-6 overall and 7-1 in conference play, travels to Treasure Valley Tuesday for a non-conference double header before hosting Snow College Friday and Saturday.
