SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The College of Southern Idaho Softball Team hit six home runs Friday, losing to Salt Lake 9-4 before winning the nightcap 11-4.
The Golden Eagles jumped on the board first in game one, hitting three home runs in the second inning. But some defensive woes in the bottom half of the inning gave the Bruins a lead they never relinquished. For the game, CSI gave up six unearned runs on three errors.
At the plate
Carley Croshaw was 2-for-2 with a home run, a walk and one RBI.
Maya Williams was 2-for-3 with a home run, double and two RBI and
Mya Washington was 2-for-3 with a home run and RBI.
In the circle,
Mailee Jensen got the loss, going 2.1 innings and giving up three earned runs on four hits.
Siera Horton was masterful in relief, giving up no runs in her 3.2 innings on three hits with no walks.
SLCC jumped on the board first with a single run in the first inning. But CSI countered with two in the third on solo home runs by
Nikki Zielinski and
Kylie Baumert.
Both teams scored in the fifth and entered the sixth tied at four. That's when CSI pulled away. The Golden Eagles scored seven runs in the sixth inning with two outs to give CSI the final tally.
Kalena Sheperd finished the game 3-for-4 with an RBI. Baumert was 2-for-4 with two home runs, a walk and three RBI.
Kaeley Loader was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI and Washington was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI.
Kenzie Waters pitched the first 4.1 innings in the no decision, giving up four runs on seven hits. Horton earned the win, throwing 2.2 innings. She gave up no runs on one hit.
CSI, 10-6 overall and 5-1 in conference play, takes on Salt Lake for another doubleheader Saturday at noon.
