TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The College of Southern Idaho Men's Basketball Team started off the Scenic West Athletic Conference schedule with a 69-55 win over Utah State University Eastern Saturday.
The Golden Eagles led by as much as 16 points in the first half and then fought off a USU Eastern comeback in the second to earn the win.
Kendall McHugh was on fire in the first half, knocking down 5-of-6 shot from the 3-point line and scoring 15 points. USU Eastern played a stifling defense on him in the second half and
Mike Hood took over. The sophomore scored 26 points to lead the Golden Eagles, 17 in the second half.
Deng Dut continued to be the calming presence for CSI, finishing with seven points, eight rebounds and six assists.Â
Sawyer Storms also had a solid game, posting seven points and five rebounds.
The Golden Eagles, although smaller, out-rebounded USUEÂ 40-35.
CSI, 12-7 overall and 1-0 in conference play, travels to Salt Lake Thursday and Colorado Northwestern Saturday.
