TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The College of Southern Idaho Women's Basketball Team was in a dogfight early with Colorado Northwestern CC Thursday but the Golden Eagles took their game to another level and pulled away to beat the Spartans 97-63 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
The win puts CSI in sole possession of third place in the conference standings with undefeated Salt Lake coming to town Saturday.
The Golden Eagles shot just 33 percent from the field in the first quarter and held a slim 19-15 lead. But they pushed the tempo in the second quarter to extend their lead and run away with the win.
Petra Farkas led CSI with 25 points, hitting five-of-eight 3-pointers. She added nine rebounds and five assists.
Taylia Stimpson added 15 points, six rebounds, five assists, two blocked shots and two steals. Other Golden Eagles in double figures included
Kaitlin Burgess with 15 points and
Karmelah Dean with 14 points. Dean also had five assists, three rebounds and two steals. In the post
Allie Thayne and
Jordan Todd combined for 13 points and 12 rebounds.
CSI, 16-8 overall, hosts Salt Lake at 3 p.m. Saturday.Â
