SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The College of Southern Idaho Softball team used some late-game magic to get past Snow College 6-5 Wednesday in the opening round of the Region 18 Tournament.
The Golden Eagles led 3-0 heading into the top of the fifth inning. But Snow tied it up in the sixth sending the game into the seventh tied.
CSI fell behind 5-3 when Brooke Brown hit a two-run shot off
Hadlie Henderson to give the Badgers their first lead of the game.
Mailee Jensen entered the game with one out and forced two ground outs to give CSI one last chance.
Kylie Baumert led off the inning with a single. One hitter later,
Hannah Peterson hit a two-run home run to tie the game. That's when
Tristin Evans added another home run to give CSI the walk-off win.
Kalena Shepherd kept CSI in the game early, going 2-for-2 with a home run and a walk. Peterson was 1-for-3 with 3 RBI and Evans was 1-for-3 with one RBI. Baumert finished the game 2-for-4.
Kamryn Grover pitched the first 4.1 innings, giving up two earned runs on four hits. Henderson pitched in middle relief, going two innings and giving up three earned runs on five hits. Jensen came in to earn the win, giving up no hits or runs.
CSI will take on Salt Lake CC at 11 a.m. Thursday in the semifinals. The Bruins defeated USU Eastern 10-0 on Wednesday.
