CSI Softball sweeps on Friday against USU Eastern

TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The College of Southern Idaho Softball beats Utah State University Eastern 7-4 and 7-6 Friday in Scenic West Athletic Conference action.
The Golden Eagles trailed 1-0 early in game one but scored four in the third inning to take the lead for good. Carley Croshaw led off the inning with a single followed by a Mya Washington double. Kaylee Lamont scored Croshaw on a bunt single and then Kylie Baumert followed with a three-run home run to right field. CSI added runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth.
Tristin Evans finished the game 2-for-3 and Lamont was 2-for-2. Hannah Peterson knocked her 14th home run of the season as well.
Kamryn Grover earned the win in the circle, going seven innings and giving up two earned runs on 10 hits with five strikeouts.
Game two was much tighter. USU Eastern scored one in the first. CSI didn't get on the board until the third inning when Baumert singled, Peterson walked and Evans hit her first of two home runs in the game. The Golden Eagles headed into the sixth inning tied at six. With one on, Mailee Jensen came in to pitch for CSI. She promptly shut down the Eagles of Price, striking out two and getting the third out on a ground out. 
CSI took the lead in the bottom half on a solo shot by Evans and Jensen shut the door in the top of the seventh.
Kalena Shepherd finished the game 3-for-3 at the plate. Jensen earned the win, giving up just one hit with three strikeouts.
The Golden Eagles, 34-20 overall and 25-13 in league play, host USUE again Saturday at noon. There will be a ceremony to honor the sophomores between games.
