HENDERSON, Nev. - One day after falling to Salt Lake CC 9-1, The College of Southern Idaho Baseball team rallied Friday to beat Colorado Northwestern 3-2 and run rule the Bruins 21-9, advancing to the Region 18 Championship.
CSI will take on the College of Southern Nevada Saturday at 1 p.m. MST. The Golden Eagles would need to defeat the Coyotes twice to advance to the district playoff.
But Friday was all CSI.
The Golden Eagles won a pitching duel in the opener Friday against CNCC.
CSI managed just five total hits.
Jordan Scott was 2-for-3 with an RBI and
Tyler Curtis was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Scott blasted a home run and a double and Curtis finished with two doubles.
On the mound,
Jayson Hibbard earned the win. He went seven innings, giving up just one earned run on five hits with four strikeouts.
Cannon Secrist earned the save, giving up no runs on not hits in his one inning of work.
CSI's second game of the day could not have been more opposite. The Golden Eagles pounded out 21 hits, while giving up just five.
Scott hit another home run as well as Justin Kohler. Scott finished the game 4-for-5 with two RBI and five runs scored. Other Golden Eagles with multiple hits included
David Hudleson (3-for-4, 3 RBI);
Nolan Walker (2-for-5, 2 RBI;
Hayden Leatham (2-for-5, 3 RBI);
Jackson Kohler (3-for-5, 4 RBI);
Colton Kent (2-for-6, 2 RBI); and
Tyler Curtis (3-for-5).
The game ended two innings early in the seventh.
Colton Carpenter earned the win, going four innings and giving up two earned runs on one hit with two strikeouts.
CSI enters tomorrow's matchup with Southern Nevada 35-22 overall.
