TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The College of Southern Idaho Baseball Team beat Colorado Northwestern 4-2 to Saturday before falling in a 13-inning heartbreaker 4-3.
The Golden Eagles scored all four of their runs in the first inning of the first game and then held the Spartans at bay.
Both
Tyler Curtis and
Andrew Astin went 2-for-3 with one RBI apiece and
David Hudleson was 2-for-4.
Colton Carpenter earned the win on the mound, going 6.2 innings and giving up just two earned runs on five hits with two strikeouts.
In game two, the Golden Eagles waited until the seventh inning to score and didn't tie the game until the eighth inning. From there, neither team could plate a run for the win until Colorado pushed across the winning run in the top of the 13th inning.
Jackson Kohler was 3-for-4 with one RBI and
Jordan Scott was 3-for-6 with two RBI for CSI.
Jordan Sadovia and
Ryke Erickson both did well at the plate too. Sadovia was 2-for-3 and Erickson was 2-for-2.
Despite a stellar pitching performance,
Tyler Curtis earned the loss. The sophomore went the final five innings, giving up just one earned run on two hits with two strikeouts.
CSI, 16-14 overall and 3-8 in conference play, host USU Eastern Friday and Saturday.
