TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The College of Southern Idaho took two games from Colorado Northwestern 2-1 and 7-6 Friday, both coming off walk-off hits.
The Golden Eagles entered the bottom of the seventh inning of game one tied at one apiece and needing a run to end the game in regulation.
Tyler Curtis led off the inning with a single before
Colton Carpenter added a single to center field. Curtis stole third setting up the
Ryke Erickson RBI single to win the game.
Boden Mills earned the win on the mound, going all seven innings and giving up one run on seven hits with three strikeouts.
Game two saw a lot more scoring and it looked like Spartans would force the series split, taking a 6-4 lead into the bottom of the ninth.Â
CSI tied the game to force extra innings when
Jordan Scott walked and
David Hudleson hit a two-run home run to tie it.
Neither team managed to score until the bottom of the 12th when the Golden Eagles earned their second walk-off win of the day.
Andrew Astin doubled with two outs and moved to third on a wild pitch.
Ryan Nolan walked and then
Colton Kent knocked in Astin for the win.
Jayson Hibbard pitched the final four innings for CSI to perfection. The freshman gave up no runs on no hits with no walks and posted five strikeouts.
CSI, now 15-13 overall and 2-7 in league play, host Colorado Northwestern again Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at noon.
