TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The College of Southern Idaho Softball Team fell to Snow College 13-3 in game one Saturday but bounced back with the 14-5 run rule in game two, getting the Scenic West Athletic Conference split.
The Golden Struggled offensively and defensively in game one, managing just seven hits, while giving up 16 hits and committing five errors.
Carley Croshaw was 2-for-3 at the plate and
Anjalee Batchelor was 1-for-3 with a two-run home run.
Game two looked like CSI's woes would continue but after falling behind 4-0, the Golden Eagles mounted a comeback in the third inning.
With one out, CSI started a rally that ended with six runs.
Kylie Baumert,
Hannah Peterson and
Tristin Evans singled.
Kalena Shepherd got on with a hbp.  Croshaw added a single and
Nikki Zielinski laced a double to complete the scoring in that inning. Snow would have been out of the inning having just giving up two runs but an error extended the inning.
Snow didn't go away easy.
The Badgers led off the top of the fourth with two singles and an error. With the bases loaded and no outs, the Golden Eagles did the improbable.
Alexis Poulsen grounded to shortstop who turned the 4-6-3 double play, scoring Mia Fernandes. CSI players started to run off the field thinking they had ended the inning but just as they realized there were only two outs, Brooke Brown started to go home for Snow.
Tristin Evans picked up the ball in the circle and threw home to Shepherd for the tag out to complete the triple play. They were the only two Eagles still on the field for CSI.
With just a one-run lead, CSI added three more in the bottom half to pull away.
Baumert led off the inning with a double and stole third. Peterson was hit by pitch and Evans walked to load the bases.Shepherd drew the RBI walk before CSI scored one more on a fielder's choice out and a passed ball.Â
CSI tacked on five more runs in the fifth for the run rule, three of those coming on a Batchelor home run.
The Golden Eagles, 15-11 overall and 8-4 in SWAC play, host Colorado Northwestern Friday and Saturday.
