TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The College of Southern Idaho Baseball took care of business Wednesday, sweeping Idaho State University Club Team 13-0, 9-1 and 3-2.
The Golden Eagles had no trouble in the first two games cruising to easy victories but Idaho State put up a fight in the third game, holding a 2-1 lead into the 6th inning.
With two outs,
Ryan Nolan earned a pinch hit walk and stole second.
Colton Carpenter walked before
Colton Kent came through with the RBI single to tie the game.
Neither team scored in the seventh, forcing extra innings.
That's when Kent came up big again. Nolan walked and moved to second on a Carpenter sacrifice bunt. Kent then doubled to left center to score Nolan and give CSI the walk-off win.
Matt Hansen earned the win on the mound, pitching the last two innings and giving up no runs on one hits with three strikeouts.
Kent finished the game 3-for-4 and
Hayden Leatham was 2-for-4.
In game one,
David Hudleson had a big game, going 4-for-4 with a double and three RBI. Leatham was 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBI and
Jordan Sadovia was 3-for-3.
Colton Carpenter,
Cannon Secrist and
Ty Sorensen combined to give up one hit and no runs with nine strikeouts.
Game two was similar as five CSI pitchers gave up just one run on two hits with seven strikeouts.
Leading the way offensively was
Abe Yagi. He was 3-for-4 with three doubles and four RBI. Walker was 2-for-3 with a double and Leatham was 1-for-1 with a triple.
CSI, now 10-12 overall, hosts Prairie Baseball Academy Friday at 1 p.m. and Saturday at noon for non-conference doubleheaders.
