MESA, Ariz. - The College of Southern Idaho Men's Basketball Team opened its season with a 78-71 win over Mesa CC Friday before falling to Scottsdale 88-81 on Saturday.
The Golden Eagles had a big night from
Mike Hood and
Maurice Barnett against Mesa.
Hood, one of the few sophomores, finished with 27 points for the Golden Eagles. Barnett added 16 points and 11 rebounds. He also had two assists, three blocked shots and two steals.
Kendall McHugh also finished with double-digit scoring, posting 11 points. The leading rebounder for the Golden Eagles was
Jackson Ruai with 12.
Nehemie Kabeya added 10.
Barnett stayed hot in CSI's second game of the weekend. The freshman finished with 24 points and six rebounds against Scottsdale. McHugh added 20 points and Hood had 13 points. Kabeya was a force inside again, posting 10 points and 15 rebounds.
CSI, 1-1, travels to Salt Lake Friday and Saturday. The Golden Eagles play Western Nebraska at 4 p.m. on Friday and Casper College at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
