CSI VB opens conference with a win on the road

RANGELY, Colo. - The College of Southern Idaho Volleyball Team won its first Scenic West Athletic Conference matchup Friday, beating Colorado Northwestern 25-18, 25-19, 25-8.
The Golden Eagles struggled to get anything going early but dominated the final set. CSI had 13 total attack errors in the first two sets but got rolling late, finishing set three with 16 kills and just three hitting errors.
CSI was led by Airi Miyabe's 13 kills. She added four digs and a block. The Spartans didn't have an answer in the middle for E'laisah Young. The sophomore posted nine kills with just one hitting error. She also had a team-high three blocks. Kylie Gibson added eight kills and Jovana Vukcevic had five.
Sean Garvin led the team with 29 assists along with five digs and a block. Brianna Barta came in to set in the third game and finished with eight assists.
Defensively, Kylie Baumert led the Golden Eagles with 15 digs. Makayla Bradford added seven and Sacha Legros had four.
CSI, now 15-1 overall and 1-0 in league play, travels to USU Eastern for a match Saturday at 3 p.m.
