NEW ROCHELLE, New York - The College of Southern Idaho Volleyball team overcame a sluggish start to beat Hillsborough 15-25, 25-21, 25-21, 25-14 Friday in the Monroe College Invitational.
The Golden Eagles struggled early, finishing set one with just nine kills and seven errors for a .053 hitting percentage.
But CSI rebounded and gradually increased its efficiency each set, finishing the fourth set with 16 kills and no errors for a .533 percentage.
Leading the way offensively for the Golden Eagles was
Payton Spoja. She finished the match with 14 kills and 12 digs.
E'laisah Young dominated in the middle. The sophomore had 11 kills with just one error and added six blocks. On the right side,
Jovana Vukcevic finished with 11 kills and three blocks.
Azriel White led all setters with 28 assists and 11 digs.
Kylie Baumert anchored the defense with 28 digs, while
Sacha Legros added 12 digs.
CSI takes on 19th-ranked Wallace State Hanceville Saturday at 10:30 a.m. EST and Monroe College at 2:30 p.m. EST.
