TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The College of Southern Idaho Baseball team came from behind to beat Salt Lake CC 10-7 Friday in the semifinals of the District Playoff.
The win puts the Golden Eagles into the championship at noon on Saturday against Arizona Western.Â
CSI struggled early, trailing 6-1 going into the bottom of the sixth. But a huge six-run inning put the Golden Eagles up for good.
Brett Resch,
Jordan Sadovia and
Travis Bohall led off the inning with singles, Resch scoring on Bohall's hit. After a sacrifice bunt moved Sadovia and Bohall,
Colin Gordon walked to load the bases.
Hayden Leatham hit a 2 RBI single before Walker walked to load the bases again.
Shawn Grandmont laced a bases clearing double to left field to put CSI up 7-6.
The Golden Eagles tacked on one run in the seventh and two in the eighth before giving up a single run in the ninth for the final margin.
Resch ended the game 3-for-5 with a home run and two RBI.
Mason Foltz earned the win on the mound, going six innings and giving up four earned runs on nine hits with two strikeouts.
Jaden Jensen came in for the save. The sophomore pitched three innings, giving up one earned run on two hits with two strikeouts.
If the Golden Eagles win at noon Saturday, they will head to the NJCAA JUCOÂ World Series in Grand Junction, Colo. May 26th through June 2nd.
A loss would force an if-necessary game immediately following and the winner of that game would advance.
