TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The College of Southern Idaho Baseball team run ruled Arizona Western 10-2 in seven innings Thursday in the opening round of the District Playoff.
Earlier, Salt Lake CC beat Trinidad State 9-6, creating a Region 18 matchup in the semifinals Friday at 3 p.m. Trinidad St. and Arizona Western will play in a loser out game at noon.
The Golden Eagles took a couple innings to get hot but once they did, it was all CSI. The Golden Eagles scored five runs in the fifth inning courtesy a Hayden Leatham triple and a Nolan Walker home run. CSI added four in the seventh to end the game in a run rule.
Travis Bohall ended the game 4-for-5 at the plate with a triple and three RBI.
On the mound Steen allowed an earned run in the first and third innings before shutting down Arizona Western the rest of the way. The sophomore gave up eight hits with three strikeouts in the win.
There will be a third game Friday at Skip Walker Field. The winner of the Arizona Western/Trinidad St. game will face the loser of the CSI/Salt Lake CC game at 7 p.m.
