TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The 19th-ranked College of Southern Idaho Baseball took advantage of big first innings to take two victories over USU Eastern 4-1 and 8-1 Friday in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
The Golden Eagles opened game one with four straight hits to score three runs.
Travis Bohall and David Hudelson led the game off with singles before a
Colin Gordon double scored Bohall and a
Hayden Leatham double scored Hudelson and Gordon to give the Golden Eagles the lead for good.
CSI gave up one unearned run but added a run for the final tally.
Leatham finished the game 2-for-3. On the mound,
Dylan Steen got the win, throwing all seven innings and giving up no earned runs on seven hits with eighth strikeouts.
In game two, CSI jumped on the board with five runs in the first inning.
Leatham was solid again, going 2-for-4 with a double and a triple and three RBI.
Shawn Grandmont had a home run.
Mason Foltz earned the win, going 8.1 innings and giving up one earned run on six strikeouts with eight hits.
CSI, now 40-8 overall and 20-6 in conference play, host USU Eastern Saturday at noon for another doubleheader. Sophomores will be honored between games.
