TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The College of Southern Idaho Softball team held on to first place in the Scenic West Athletic Conference standings with a 7-1 and 6-4 win over Snow College Saturday.
The Golden Eagles were solid at the plate but it was the pitching performances of
Stefani Zimmerman and
Hadlie Henderson that made the difference.
Zimmerman earned the game one win, going all seven innings and giving up one earned run on seven hits with two strikeouts. In game two, Henderson came into the second inning with no outs and the Golden Eagles down 4-1. She gave up only two hits and no runs the rest of the way, while the CSI hitters gradually pulled back ahead.
Leading the way at the plate in the first game was
Hannah Peterson, who finished 2-for-2 with two home runs and four RBI.
Kassidie Brooks was 1-for-3 with a home run and
Hailey Hicks added one more home run.
In game two, it was a three-run home run by
Anjalee Batchelor that tied the game. Then
Melanie Groenewegen hit a solo shot to put the Golden Eagles up for good. She ended the game 2-for-3.
Tristin Evans also swung it in game two, going 2-for-3.
The Golden Eagles improve to 34-8 overall and 24-4 in conference play.
