TWIN FALLS, Idaho - The College of Southern Idaho Softball team used the long ball and a couple pitching performances to roll past College of Southern Nevada 8-0 and 11-4 Friday in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
The Golden Eagles hold a one-game lead heading into the final day of regular season.
CSI took advantage of three home runs from
Anjalee Batchelor on the day. Teammates
Melanie Groenewegen,
Hannah Peterson,
Tristin Evans,
Mikelle Magalogo and
Siearrah Anderson all added one home run apiece.
Batchelor ended the day 4-7 with seven RBI.
That would be plenty of run support for the two winning pitchers.
Stefanie Zimmerman earned the shut-out win in game one, throwing all five innings and giving up just three hits with six strikeouts.
In game two,
Hadlie Henderson entered the game with CSI down 4-0 in the second inning to throw 5.1 innings of shut out ball. She gave up just four hits with three strikeouts.
CSI will take on Southern Nevada again Saturday with the doubleheader beginning at noon. Sophomores will be recognized between games. One win guarantees CSI a share of the Scenic West Athletic Conference regular season title and hosting rights. Two wins and the Golden Eagles win the title outright.
