TWIN FALLS - The College of Southern Idaho Baseball team took advantage of a wild pitch on an intentional walk for the walk-off game two win over Southern Nevada Saturday 8-7. In game one, CSI beat the Coyotes 10-3, giving the Golden Eagles a four-game series sweep.
Heading into the weekend, the two teams were tied atop the Scenic West Athletic Conference standings. Now CSI holds a four-game lead.
Colton Westfall earned the game one win on the mound, going seven innings and giving up two earned runs on six hits with three strikeouts.
Travis Bohall went 3-for-4 with a triple and
Shawn Grandmont was 2-for-3 with two RBI and a double.
Game two was exciting from start to finish.Â
The Golden Eagles opened the game with a one-run first inning for the lead. But CSN answered with two in the second, one in the third and one in the fourth to take the 4-1 lead.
CSI added three in the bottom half to tie the game.
David Hudleson singled to lead off the inning.
Colin Gordon knocked an RBI triple before scoring on a wild pitch.
Hayden Leatham singled and
Nolan Walker walked. A sac bunt by
Brett Resch moved the runners and
Nick Dolce hit in the tying run with a fielder's choice out.
Neither team scored again until the seventh when the Golden Eagles took the 5-4 lead. CSN answered in the top of the eighth with a run before the Golden Eagles plated two in the bottom half.
Southern Nevada tied it up in the top of the 9th and that led to the walk-off wild pitch run.
Gordon and Leatham walked and Walker sacrificed them over. In the attempt to walk
Nick Dolce the pitch went wild and Gordon scored the winning run.
Bohall finished the game 2-for-3 and Grandmont was 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI.
Charlie Fry earned the win on the mound.
CSI, now 29-5 overall and 13-3 in conference play, travels to Salt Lake next weekend.
