HENDERSON, Nev. - The 10th-ranked College of Southern Idaho Softball team pulled out the 5-3 opening series win against Southern Nevada before beating the Coyotes 18-5 in game two Friday.
CSI struggled to get the offense going in game one until
Melanie Groenewegen belted a 2 RBI home run.
Tristin Evans was 3-for-4 with one RBI.
Stefani Zimmerman earned the win in the circle, giving up three earned runs on five hits with eight strikeouts.
The Golden Eagle bats got hot in game two.
Nicole Renner was 4-for-5 with two triples and four RBI. Evans hit two home runs, going 2-for-4 with four RBI.
Anjalee Batchelor also hit a home run, finishing 3-for-5 with three RBI.
Hadlie Henderson earned the win for CSI. The freshman threw the final 5.1 innings, giving up one earned run on three hits.
CSI, now 25-7 overall and 15-3 in conference play, takes on the Coyotes Saturday for another doubleheader, beginning at 1 p.m. MST.
