ST. GEORGE, Utah - The College of Southern Idaho jumped on Salt Lake CC 8-2 in Friday's first game before falling to the Bruins 11-4 to finish the weekend with a weekend split.
The Golden Eagles were led in game one by
Colton Westfall on the mound. The sophomore earned the win, going 6.1 innings and giving up just two earned runs on three hits with 10 strikeouts.
He was helped out offensively by
Colin Gordon, who was 1-for-2 with a double and three RBI.
Nolan Walker was 1-for-2 with 2 RBI.Â
CSI was unable to get anything going in game two. The two teams were tied heading into the fifth inning where Salt Lake plated six runs to pull ahead.
The Golden Eagles scored two runs in the eighth but it wasn't enough.
David Hudleson was 2-for-3 for the CSI with one RBI and
Travis Bohall was 3-for-5 with a double, two stolen bases and two runs scored.
CSI, now 12-4 overall and 2-2 in conference play, returns home to host Prairie Baseball Academy Friday and Saturday in non-conference action.
