EPHRAIM, Utah - The 10th-ranked College of Southern Idaho Softball swept Snow College Saturday 5-0 and 10-6 behind dominating pitching performances from sophomore Stefani Zimmerman.
Zimmerman threw the seven-inning shutout in game one, giving up five hits with a strikeout. The Golden Eagles had to go to her in the bullpen again in game two with CSI trailing 6-5. She shut the Badgers down, throwing the final 3.2 innings and giving up just one hit and no runs with three strikeouts.
In game two, CSI took its first lead in the fifth on a Tristin Evans home run. Hannah Peterson added a three-run home run in the seventh to complete the comeback.
Evans finished game two 4-for-4 with three RBI. Peterson was 2-for-3 with three RBI and Hailey Hicks was 2-for-3 with one RBI.
In game one, Melanie Groenewegen was 3-for-3 with a triple and two RBI, while Nicole Renner hit her 10th home run of the season, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
The Golden Eagles improve to 15-7 overall and 5-3 in conference play. They travel to Colorado Northwestern Friday and Saturday.
