ST. GEORGE, Utah - The College of Southern Idaho Baseball team beat Northeastern 5-2 and 10-6 Friday to improve to 9-2 on the season.
In game one, the Golden Eagles rode a dominant pitching performance by Mason Foltz to get the win. The sophomore threw 6.33 innings of the 7-inning game, giving up just one earned run on three hits, no walks and seven strikeouts. Jaden Jensen came in to close the door, earning the save with two strikeouts.
At the plate, Hayden Leatham was 2-for-3 with two RBI, while Austin Wickham was 1-for-1 with a two-rbi double.
Game two was a defensive battle early after CSI jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. There was only one run scored through the next three innings. Golden Eagle starting pitcher Colton Westfall held Northeastern at bay in the first five innings. He gave up no earned runs on five hits with three strikeouts to earn the win.
CSI added two runs in the fifth, two in the sixth and three in the seventh. The Golden Eagles only blip came in the sixth inning where they gave up five runs. but Jaden Jensen came in and shut Northeastern out the rest of the way and earn the save.
At the plate, Nick Dolce was 2-for-3 with two RBI and a double, while Nolan Walker was 2-for-3 with two RBI and a triple.
CSI finishes up its road trip Saturday at 9:30 a.m. against Northeastern. The Golden Eagles return home to host Dawson CC next weekend.
