Jake Hendricks knocked down only one 3-pointer all game, but it was the most important one, leading the Golden Eagles past Snow College 83-79 Saturday in Scenic West Athletic Conference play.
Trailing by one point with nine seconds to go, The Golden Eagles pushed the ball up the floor and got it to Hendricks, who drained the eventual game-winner from two feet beyond the arc with 3.2 seconds to play.
Snow committed an end-line violation on the inbounds and Hendricks added two free throws to seal it after they fouled the sophomore.
The Golden Eagles struggled from the field in the first half, trailing by seven early in the game. CSI shot just 28 percent from the field and 23 percent from the 3-point line in the first half. The second half was a different story as the Eagles shot 56 percent from the field and 50 percent from long distance.
There were 18 lead changes and the score was tied 15 times.
Roberto Gittens led CSI with 16 points.
Roche Grootfaam added 14 points and five rebounds, while
Nico Aguirre Urritia finished with 13 points.
Hendricks finished the game with seven points, five of those coming in the final nine seconds.
