SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The College of Southern Idaho Softball team pounded out 14 hits en route to a 14-8 win over USU Eastern in the Region 18 Tournament.
With the win, the Golden Eagles advance to the undefeated game Thursday at 2:30 p.m. against top-seeded Salt Lake CC. The Bruins beat Colorado Northwestern 6-3 on a walk-off 3-run home run in the bottom of the seventh earlier Wednesday.
CSI had some offensive fireworks of its own.
Nicole Renner finished the game 3-for-3 with two home runs, a walk, two rbi and three runs scored.
Melanie Groenewegen added a home run in a 2-for-4 performance with four RBI.
Madison Ford and
Skylar Cook were each 2-for-4 and
Erin Emanuel was 1-for-2 with two walks and an RBI.
Samantha Riesen earned the win, going 3.1 innings and giving up five hits and five runs with two strikeouts.
Stefani Zimmerman came in to get the save, throwing 2.2 innings and giving up five hits with one earned run.
The winner of Thursday's game will advance to the championship at 1:30 p.m. Friday. The loser will play in the third-place game Friday morning to get back to the championship.
