SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The College of Southern Idaho Softball team couldn't string hits together Thursday, falling to Salt Lake CC 9-1 in the semifinal of the Region 18 Tournament.
The Golden Eagles trailed 1-0 heading into the top of the third inning and tied the game in one swing when
Jaici Bishop hit a solo shot.Â
But that would be all the scoring offense CSI would have and Salt Lake answered with six runs in the bottom of the third and CSI never recovered.
Salt Lake out-hit CSI just 9-6 but the Golden Eagle pitchers surrendered four walks and three hit by pitches as well to give the Bruins additional base runners.
Madi Ford and
Melanie Groenewegen each finished the game 2-for-3 at the plate but the Golden Eagles two, three and five spot hitters came up empty for the day.
The Golden Eagles will play Snow College at 11 a.m. Friday with the winner advancing to the Region 18 Championship at 1:30 p.m. against Salt Lake. CSI would need to beat Snow and the Bruins twice to advance to the NJCAA National Tournament.
