TWIN FALLS - The College of Southern Idaho Baseball team lost to Salt Lake CC 3-1 and 9-2 Thursday in the opening doubleheader of the four-game series.
Golden Eagle starter
Ryan Beard threw a solid game but with the CSI bats quiet, he posted the loss. He went the distance, giving up just one earned run on seven hits with seven strikeouts. At the plate,
Daniel Nist went 2-for-3 and
Travis Bohall finished 2-for-4.
Cody Barkdull and Colin Gordan were the only other CSI players to register hits.
Game two was tight early as neither team scored until the fourth inning. Salt Lake scored first, putting five runs on the board. The Golden Eagles answered with two but that would be all they would get for the game. SLCC added one in the sixth, two in the seventh and one in the eighth.
CSI's only multi-hit player was Gordan, who was 2-for-3 with a home run and both RBI.
The Golden Eagles, now 14-18 overall and 7-11 in Scenic West Athletic Conference play, take on Salt Lake again Friday at 10 a.m. The doubleheader was moved up to try to beat the wet weather on its way.
