HENDERSON, Nev. - The College of Southern Idaho Baseball team fell to league-leading College of Southern Nevada on a walk-off balk in game one 2-1 and then lost to the Coyotes 10-0 in game two Saturday on the road.
The Golden Eagles looked like they would be playing extra innings in the opening game Saturday, heading into the final inning tied at 1. CSN led off the inning with a single by N. Festa off
Colton Westfall who had held the Coyotes to just four hits and one run to that point. He was able to retire the next batter on a strikeout and the next one on a ground out to second, moving Festa to second base. J Perns walked so CSI brought in
Brandon Soucy to finish the game. Festa and Perns advanced to third on a passed ball and then Soucy was called for a balk to plate the winning run with two outs.
Offensively, CSI finished with three hits.
Shawn Grandmont led the way, going 2-for-2.
Game two was all Southern Nevada. The Coyotes scored in every inning until they posted the 10-0 run rule in the fifth inning. Â
Nick Dolce and
Brett Resch finished with the only two hits of the game for the Golden Eagles.
CSI, now 14-16 overall and 7-9 in league play, hosts Salt Lake Friday and Saturday.
