SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The College of Southern Idaho lost to Snow College four times during the season but it was the Golden Eagles turn on Saturday as they beat the Badgers 92-82 in the Region 18 Championship.
The win puts CSI in the district championship next Saturday on the road with the winner advancing to the NJCAA National Tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas.
CSI led most of the game except a stretch midway through the second half when Snow jumped ahead. But the Golden Eagles battled back behind the scoring of
Danya Kingsby. Kingsby ended the game with 28 points, four rebounds and four assists. He wasn't the only player with a big game.
Deishuan Booker finished with 11 points, 10 assists and six rebounds.
Casdon Jardine, who hit a big 3-pointer to tie the game with just under six minutes to play, added 16 points and 10 rebounds. Other CSI players scoring in double figures included
Darius Alexander and Charles Jones Jrs, both with 11 points. Jones Jr. also had nine rebounds.
Snow College led the league in free-throw shooting all season but struggled Saturday. The Badgers made only 47 percent of their free throws. They also struggled from the field, making 43 percent.Â
That was not the case for the Eagles. They knocked down 57 percent of their shots and 47 percent from beyond the arc.Â
CSI, now 26-6 overall, just need one more win to punch its ticket into the national tournament.
